As my mother would have said "Small things amuse small minds" but I was very excited on Friday when, not only did I find some mugs in Amandola, but they were Maxwell Williams.
The mug situation was getting pretty desperate as most of them had come from Australia 5.5 years ago and were either chipped or cracked. (Have to say here that I'm talking about mugs that Rob and I use, not what we give our guests!). Anyway, I had seen a pretty, blue teapot in Bottega del Caffè which sells coffee (the beans or ground), chocolate, bomboniere and gifts. There was a good selection of mugs and I was delighted to find that the ones I selected were Maxwell Williams. Whilst not the same as the ones I have, they blend in well. I later discovered the teapot was also an MW!
Why the excitement over mugs? Well, they are not generally used here. The Italians use small espresso cups or a much wider bowl-type cup for their morning coffee or a tea cup.
